This session is a presentation, with some hands on trialling, and an opportunity for Q&A. Rockhampton Special School caters for students with multi-disabilities. Approximately 25% of the population are non-verbal students who require Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Tools to communicate. This presentation aims to:
• Provide information on the different tools that are available, including the opportunity for participants to test electronic devices.
• Outline the pros and cons of different devices will be explored.
• Share the journey of two special schools as they implement ACCs into the communication and literacy programs of the schools.
• The responsibilities of school leaders in the selection, implementation and ongoing monitoring of ACCs in the classrooms.
